FRIT 7739 Program Evaluation
In this assignment I was required to analyze the media center and give feedback to the center on things that they could be doing better. Going into this assignment I initially felt very uncomfortable doing the observation. I had learned so much from being at the center that for me to evaluate and give them suggestions felt disrespectful as I didn't have the knowledge that they had. However, I was assured from the media specialist that he was always looking for feedback on ways to make the library better. Doing the evaluation changed the way that I watch and observed media centers and or educational establishments. However, I believe that the biggest lesson that was learned is to never be so great and accomplished that you refuse help from others.
This assignment showed my mastery of standards 5.1 and 5.3. I initially did a needs assessment on the media center, the students, and the teachers as part of the evaluation. My evaluation of the library was then handed over to the media specialist where he was better able to determine if my evaluations and suggestions would help lead to better student and/or teacher learning.

FRIT 7739 Face-To-Face Development Workshop
In this assignment we were to present a professional development to a school outside of our own after doing a needs assessment. My needs assessment came to the conclusion that many teachers were uncomfortable with using technology as a to assess for mastery of a standard. There is always a sense of uncertainty when going when talking with a group for the first time, especially when your essentially going to tell them that for a lack of better words need to "do better". However, they were very receptive to my information, and some seemed very eager to begin using "anyflip" and other web 2.0 tools like it.
While the presentation went well, there were also some growing pains as well. The learners (media committee) were informed that they were going to a technology professional development, however, none brought their computers and on twi had their phones. This caused a bit of a problem as nearpod was going to be used to aide in my presentation. That experience made me realized that in future trainings I need to emphasize that computers will be acquired and also have a back up plan if teachers do not bring them.
The assignment shows my mastery of standards 5.1 and 5.2. The staff development was a module that was based off of a needs assessment done at the school. That information was then used to create the module and be presented in hopes of turning that weakness into a strength in a face-to-face professional development format.

FRIT 7739 Online Staff Development
In this assignment I had to take the Face-To-Face Professional Development workshop that I did at Simonton Elementary School and convert it to an online module for the teachers at my school. During this process what I found to be the most interest was just how hard it was to find willing participants to go through the module. The module last 15-20 minutes and I emailed and personally asked over thirty teachers at my school. However, I only got responses from seven coworkers at the time that I attached the assignment to my portfolio. In the future I have to think of some incentive to have teachers take these trainings. I do not believe that it is a issue of not wanting to do these sort of trainings, but rather an issue of teachers at my school having so many meetings, that when they do get free time they are not easy to give it up.
This assignment shows my mastery of standards; 5.1, 5.2, and 5.3. The module was choosing a needs assessment at Simonton that showed that while media specialist were show the students different ways to use web 2.0 tools, they were not getting practice in the classroom as teachers reluctant to do them. After creating the face-to-face workshop, I then created a online module for the teachers at my school who suffer with the same issue of reluctancy. After both the face-to-face and online modules attendees evaluated my workshops in hopes of getting insight on how I could improve the effectiveness of the module going forward.
