FRIT 7234 Digital Citizenship
During FRIT 7234 I worked with my 8th Grade Language Arts teammate to create digital citizenship lessons for our students. The the lesson we focus on was that of citing resources. Eighth grade is the first year that students are required to cite the evidence on research papers and students were having trouble with it. Instead of citing their sources, students end up illegally plagiarizing. In addition to having trouble citing their work, they were also having trouble with what to site. So the lesson also discussed the differences between primary and secondary sources. (click on the image below to view the lesson). The ability to collaborate with a fellow teacher was the most rewarding part of this assignment. We were able to work together to come up with a plan to help our students understand a subject that matter that will aide them through the rest of their educational career.
This artifact showed my mastery of standards 4.1 & 4.2. The lesson showed students how to use best practice when citing their text. This in return ensures that students are legally and ethically using the works of other in the creation of their own works.

FRIT 7234 Curated list of Ethical Use Resources
In this assignment I created a curated list of resources for my students to use help them get a better understanding of what correctly citing sources looks like. Going into this assignment, I wanted to ensure that the resources that were added were in resources that were not only informational but were something that the students would actually enjoy viewing. This included test, videos, and presentations.
This assignment showed my mastery of standards; 4.1, 4.2, and 4.3. Within the assignment are resources that helped students understand the best practices to ensure that they are not plagiarizing. By doing the assignment ensured that students understood how to responsibly use technology so that they do not put themselves in a position to get themselves in legal troubles. The inclusion of test, videos, and presentations also allow for studnets of different needs and understanding levels to comprehend the message of ethical use.

FRITT 7739 Digital Citizenship
For this unit we were required to create a digital citizenship unit to be taught in a class that was not our own. The biggest issue that I had with assignment was time and opportunity. There simply was not enough time and opportunity for me to do the assignment as so many teachers are becoming very cautious of their time with their being so many test this year (major test every 4.5 - 5 weeks). Thankfully I was able to find a teacher in the SPED department. This was very challenging for me because while i had some experience with SPED students I had never been with self-contained students and was unsure of what to expect. The first thing that I did was modify my unit, because three of the five students have severe ADHD among other things. The goal became to give in-depth instructions to the students without having them get bored of the lesson. Despite my nervousness the unit went very well. The students were receptive to the module and based on their response to the assessment understood they assignments on a mastery level.
This assignment showed my mastery of element 4.2. The assignment displayed ways for students to properly and legally use citations in their lessons, as well as express the importance for learners to explain why the cited information connects to their own believes and gives them validation.
